Our Mission

Empower girls to live out their identity in Christ, increasing self-worth, building confidence and purpose through engaging Gospel-centered curriculum in a small, peer group setting.

Our Story

How did Beauties Get Started?

When God puts an idea in the heart of women that love Him, things happen! In 2010, a handful of moms working at a church in Northern Colorado and serving in children’s ministry felt called to gather elementary aged girls for a fun sleepover where they would do crafts and games, but most importantly learn to establish their identity in Christ before the world had a chance to tell them who they were. They heard God’s truth that they are Beauties in the eyes of God. By 2012, that idea evolved into monthly small group gatherings during the school year with a lesson focus. The need for girls to get into God’s Word and learn they are precious, priceless, promised and loved by their Creator was something these moms knew the girls needed regularly. Moms and women from the church community volunteered to lead groups. The ministry was called Breakaway Beauties.

In 2015, with new direction and goals for the church, Beauties was paused indefinitely; however, a few scattered groups continued on their own. Rachel Bates and Genavieve DeSouza of Erie, Colorado started their group when their girls were 6. They loved leading together and wanted to continue. With teaching backgrounds, they didn’t shy away from building on the lessons already provided, writing new ones and adjusting the meeting elements to meet different learning styles. When Rachel was driving in Erie one day, she prayed about Beauties and felt God saying: “Erie is your mission field.” Through social media, Rachel invited other families in the Erie area to join their group. It quickly grew!

By 2017, Rachel and Genavieve’s group split into smaller groups because it had grown so big and other moms stepped into leadership roles. Rachel and Genavieve felt called to share the mission of Beauties with even more moms and so they developed a leadership training. Rachel shared the mission of Beauties to leaders at her church in Erie and they were excited to promote and provide space for the training. 10 new groups started that year. In 2018, another 10 groups. By 2019, there were over 25 Beauties groups along the Front Range from Greeley to Thornton. The ministry was taking off!

In the fall of 2019, after much prayer and with permission from the women who set the foundation of the ministry, Rachel applied for Beauties to receive 501 c (3) status as an official nonprofit. The approval paperwork arrived Valentines’ Day of 2020. It was the best Valentine; to know that the Beauties ministry would grow for years to come, empower moms to lead and encourage girls all over Colorado (and one day nation-wide) to live out their identities in Christ.
